About our capabilities…

Within the size range of our equipment, no Job Shop in the Southeast can offer greater capability. Our "niche" in this business is that we have the expertise, experience, and "state-of-the-art" equipment necessary to do the truly close tolerance work. When the tolerance is .0002" or .005mm or less… and it has to be right… Atomic City Tool is the place to get it done. As you can see by the Equipment List provided, we have both the manual and CNC versions of every major category of machine tools; turning, milling, EDM, as well as surface, cylindrical, and jig grinding. It also lists machines and features/ options offering unique capabilities which make the difficult tasks possible and easier. Every customer’s needs are unique but the key is to have the flexibility to match capability to specific application. This array of first class equipment gives us that key!

The Moore Continuous Path CNC Jig Grinder, Agie Wire & Die Sinker EDM, and Hitachi-Seiki and Cincinnati Milacron CNC Mills & Sub-Spindle CNC Lathes are "leading edge technology" machines that highlight a most comprehensive equipment list. It gives us the capability to handle all your precision machining needs; manual or CNC; one piece or production quantities. That equipment, thirty-one plus years experience, and a winning attitude, gives us the confidence to believe we can offer you the greatest possible Quality, Value, and Service for your tooling Dollar… and that’s Economic Performance! Contact us via phone, fax, or e-mail and we’ll prove ourselves your best precision tooling/ machining vendor.

Moore, Continuous Path
CNC Jig Grinder

This unique piece of equipment offers the greatest accuracy in the business and features an optional inspection software package for ultra-close measurement. The "continuous path" aspect makes it possible to nail even the most demanding dimensional tolerances and complex geometry. When location and positioning accuracy are critical, this machine has no equal.

AGIE Wire EDM
The addition of the HSS 150 & HSS 250 gave Atomic City Tool the most advanced and efficient Wire EDM department in the region. These machines feature Job Planning & Mechanic Software Programming Systems which make 4 Axis & multiple job tasking set-ups possible; greatly enhancing efficiency. Most important though is the AGIE’s ability to produce superior surface finishes with tremendous speed and accuracy. The AGIE produces surface finish values that were formerly possible only with special equipment. Six-Eight Micro Finishes right off the wire eliminates expensive tool polishing operations. Finally, the AGIE achieves unprecedented cutting speeds, even on complex contours, yet maintains 0.00008" (0.002mm) positioning accuracy and repeats with 0.00004" (0.001mm). The old adage, "you get what you pay for", truly applies to these machines.

Cincinnati Milacron Avenger
Sub-Spindle CNC Lathes

These lathes are proven performers. With three now on board and three more on order, we can offer tremendous capability and efficiency. These machines are incredibly fast, accurate, and rigid. They also offer more main spindle & sub-spindle horsepower for deeper cuts and more efficient processing of hard steels. In production application, they nail the most difficult dimensional geometry, I.D./O.D. concentricity, and blending of complex radius’ & angles… all the while producing a less than 0.8 RA surface finish. Last but not least, we routinely hard turn (52-60 Rc) finish dimensions to less than 0.0005" (0.013mm) tolerance; showcasing the machine’s rigidity and accuracy.

Cincinnati Milacron
Lancer 1250 Machining Center

This robust, 50 Taper machine goes through the toughest steels as is they were brass or aluminum. Despite its ruggedness, it boasts several technological advancements that separate it from the rest of the field. To start, a high-performance spindle carrier provides the Lancer with superior rigidity and stability in even the heaviest cuts. "Through the spindle" coolant flow is further enhanced by a built-in chiller which ensures cool running in full horsepower and extended cuts. The THK linear guideways provide for rapid traverse (944 IPM in X & Y Axes, 708 in Z Axis) with tremendous positioning accuracy (0.00014" / 0.0035mm) and repeatability (0.00004"/ 0.001mm). The 30-tool magazine can accommodate tools up to 8.07" in diameter, providing ample versatility for a wide range of applications; all with high-speed changeover (7 second metal to metal tool change). Finally, the ACRAMATIC 2100 MC Control is state-of-the-art, making G-code programming much faster and easier. Further, the Gibbs SFP Shop Floor Programming option provides a graphics based, full-featured shop floor programming system that is extremely "user friendly".

Jones & Shipman
Format 5/150 CNC Surface Grinder

This proven performer combines amazing efficiency with pin point accuracy, giving our grinding department even greater versatility. The "user friendly " Fanuc Control allows the operator to use a combination of graphic and text prompts for a digitizing style set-up, creating wheel form/dress and grinding cycles. The toughest wheelforming demands are made easy as the operator defines geometric features and dressing frequencies to match the needs of the workpiece. The screen then displays graphically the finished profile in a prove out mode. With wheel dressing/forming already programmed, and the control compensating for wheel wear, you get maximum productivity as well as perfect parts… well, parts with ten to twenty millionths anyway!
